I've taken a decision to change my AV provider (Sophos just got too expensive). I've unistalled Sophos but I keep getting multiple SAVI errors:

<<The VPOP3 POP3 Virus Scanner could not start Sophos SAVI (error 00000001). The incoming message may not have been scanned for viruses.>>

The option to not use an AV scanner is greyed out on the admin sttings so I can't tell vPop *not* to scan attachments.

Where do I go from here?

Thanks
Using Plugin Pack's VPOP3Decode and ClamWin , you should be able to scan for viruses.

Has anyone tried it?

MailScan scans at the transportlevel, so if an infected or spam-classified mail is detected, the original content is deleted right in the transport stream. At this point, the download is already in progress and VPOP3 is expecting a mail. So "something" has to be given to VPOP3 instead of the original content. This "something" is a standard notification mail: sender is "mailscan@mydomain.com", recipient is "mailscan@mydomain.com", text is something like "mail deleted at the gateway...bla bla"

As long as I don??t use the "download rules" feature, these mails can be sorted out by the "What to do with incoming (POP3) mail for unknown recipients" feature, because the user "mailscan@mydomain.com" is of course unknown. So I direct mails for unknown users to a different mailbox and delete them from time to time.

If I switch on "download rules", regardless of the kind of rules, those notification mails get into the original recipient??s mailbox.

This is extremely annoying, cause it doesn`t make much difference if you have to delete 500 spammails a day, or 500 notification mails a day ;-)

Any ideas ?

Thanks
