We are pleased to announce the release of VPOP3 3.0.0b
This is a new major version release so is not a free upgrade for users of 2.x and earlier who do not have a current Upgrade Protection plan.
The main differences between 3.0 and 2.6 are:
Rewritten administration console
Rewritten message store system to use a database instead of flat files. This greatly improves performance and reliability
VPOP3 now requires Windows 2000 or later. (NT4, 95, 98, ME are no longer supported)
LAN Forwarding queue is quicker with large numbers of messages in queue
Lots of bug fixes, performance and reliability fixes.
The list of changes may not seem big, but the first two were very major changes.
Note that some people have had problems with installing version 3.0.0 and 3.0.0a, because of the new database system installation. We hope these problems have been fixed in 3.0.0b, but please contact support@pscs.co.uk if you have problems.
Version 3.0.0a fixed a problem with mappings and autoresponders in 3.0.0
Version 3.0.0b made several improvements to the installer to make it work on Active Directory controllers as well as other installer changes. VPOP3 itself is identical in 3.0.0b and 3.0.0a
As with a lot of the UK, we've got lots of snow today. This means we are currently working with a skeleton crew, because we don't want staff being killed on the roads travelling to work.
So, please bear with us if you phone us and there's a longer than usual wait on the line.
